Clear expectations for using Anansekrom’s website, research, imagery and enquiry services.
Last updated: 21 August 2026
Effective: 21 August 2026
1. About these terms
These terms govern your access to and use of anansekrom.org and its public pages, forms and digital materials (the “website”). The website is operated by Anansekrom Heritage Foundation, based at Teiman Mountains, near Ayi Mensah, Greater Accra, Ghana (“Anansekrom”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using it. Nothing in these terms removes rights that cannot lawfully be limited under applicable consumer or data-protection law.
2. Website purpose
The website introduces Anansekrom’s heritage work, cultural experiences, public-interest research, proposed programmes and opportunities to visit, collaborate or provide support. It is provided for general information and enquiry purposes.
Important: A page, form submission or email acknowledgement is not a confirmed booking, contract, partnership, programme place or donation receipt. An arrangement becomes binding only when the relevant details are expressly agreed by Anansekrom and you.
3. Acceptable use
You may browse, link to and share the website for lawful, non-commercial purposes. You must not:
- interfere with the website, bypass security controls, probe for vulnerabilities or overload its infrastructure;
- use automated tools to extract content at a scale that harms the service or violates another person’s rights;
- submit material that is unlawful, threatening, deceptive, discriminatory, defamatory, malicious or infringing;
- impersonate another person, misrepresent an affiliation or submit information you are not authorised to provide;
- reuse Anansekrom’s name, identity, photography or materials in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership without written permission; or
- use the website to exploit, trivialise or sensationalise cultural knowledge, community members or histories of enslavement.
We may restrict access, preserve relevant records or report activity where reasonably necessary to protect people, the website, cultural materials or legal rights.
4. Content, photography and intellectual property
Unless a page states otherwise, the website’s original writing, design, branding and arrangement are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Photographs, illustrations, historical resources and contributed materials may be owned by Anansekrom, a contributor, a client or another rights holder.
You may quote brief portions with clear attribution and a link to the relevant page where permitted by law. You may not republish substantial portions, remove credits, train a commercial dataset on protected material, sell copies or commercially exploit the website’s content without permission from the appropriate rights holder.
Third-party research and source materials remain subject to the terms and licences of their respective publishers. If you believe content infringes your rights or lacks an appropriate credit, contact us with the page address, a description of the material and the basis of your request.
5. Enquiries, visits and programme arrangements
You are responsible for providing accurate, current information when making an enquiry. Visit dates, itineraries, accessibility arrangements, safeguarding requirements, prices, inclusions, cancellation terms and other practical conditions must be confirmed directly before travel or participation.
Experiences may involve outdoor environments, travel, food, cultural protocols or third-party venues. Any activity-specific terms, waivers or safety information supplied during booking will form part of the arrangement. Please disclose relevant access or dietary needs early enough for the team to assess what can reasonably and safely be provided.
6. Donations, volunteering and support
The website does not currently collect payment-card details. A donation button may direct you to a separate payment provider, whose identity, fees, currency, refund conditions, privacy practices and terms should be reviewed before payment.
Information about volunteering, partnerships and programme support is an invitation to enquire, not a guarantee of placement, funding, benefit, tax treatment or charitable deduction. Any restricted purpose, recognition or reporting arrangement must be agreed in writing.
7. Historical research and cultural interpretation
We aim to identify sources, distinguish public research from organisational outcomes, and communicate uncertainty responsibly. Historical datasets may be incomplete, revised or interpreted differently by scholars and communities. Cultural knowledge may also be contextual, living and held under community protocols that are not captured by open-data rules.
Research pages are educational and are not professional academic, genealogical, legal or therapeutic advice. Verify material against the cited source before relying on it for publication, teaching, policy or personal decisions.
8. External links and third-party services
The website links to maps, social platforms, research publishers and potentially donation or booking services. External services are controlled by their operators and may change without notice. A link does not mean that Anansekrom endorses every statement, product or practice on that service.
Your use of an external service is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy notice. We are not responsible for third-party availability, security or content, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
9. Website availability and security
We work to keep the website accurate, accessible and secure, but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free access. We may correct, suspend, move or withdraw content or features for maintenance, safety, legal or editorial reasons.
You should use current device software and reasonable security precautions. Please report suspected vulnerabilities privately to heritagefoundation25@gmail.com and do not access, alter or disclose data beyond what is necessary to describe the issue.
10. Responsibility and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website is provided on an “as available” basis. Anansekrom is not responsible for loss caused by relying on general website information without direct confirmation, third-party services, events outside our reasonable control, or unauthorised use of the website.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, breach of rights that cannot be excluded, or any other liability that applicable law does not allow us to limit.
11. Privacy, cookies and communications
Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information submitted through the website is handled. Our Cookie Policy explains browser storage and the preference centre.
Submitting an enquiry permits us to respond about that request; it does not subscribe you to marketing. Newsletter messages are sent only when you separately opt in, and you may unsubscribe at any time.
12. Changes, severability and governing law
We may update these terms when the website, our services or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will always appear on this page. Material changes will be highlighted where reasonably practicable.
If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, and disputes are subject to the courts of Ghana, without limiting any mandatory rights or forum available to you under applicable consumer law.
13. Contact
Questions, permissions and notices concerning these terms may be sent to heritagefoundation25@gmail.com, by telephone at +233 20 223 5459, or addressed to Anansekrom Heritage Foundation, Teiman Mountains, near Ayi Mensah, Greater Accra, Ghana.
